Blue amber is a rare variety of amber resin that exhibits a blue coloration. Blue amber has been found only in the Dominican Republic—especially in the amber mines around the city of Santiago and, less commonly, in the eastern half of the country.

The superior blue amber is light yellow and pure over a white background and in natural light. When changing the angle, the naked eye can see a slight blue hue. Under the dark background and natural light, there will be a strong sky blue. Under the purple light, there will be a very strong blue fluorescence.
